Inside the Cabinet
📝 News & Projects

Here’s where I share a peek at what I’ve been working on — along with any updates from the studio. A little blog of what I'm currently up to. I can’t always promise to keep it perfectly up to date, but I’ll do my best to give you a glimpse into the colourful chaos of Lulu’s Cabinet.

Colour Therapy Healer Certification

2025

I’ve recently completed and passed a Diploma in Colour Therapy Counselling and Healing, and I can’t wait to start weaving everything I’ve learned into my workshops. 🌈

Colour has always been at the heart of my work, but now I have a deeper understanding of just how powerful it is for our minds, bodies and overall wellbeing. I’m so excited to share this knowledge and help others experience the joy and healing energy of colour through creative making.

Lulu's Cabinet featured on 'In Her Studio' magazine

One of the real highlights of 2023 was having Lulu’s Cabinet featured in In Her Studio magazine! ✨ It was such an honour to see my little creative space shared, and even more exciting to know that people all over the world got a glimpse into the studio when the magazine featured it on their Instagram account.

Lindow Man Project

I’m currently working with my students on a fascinating project inspired by the discovery of Lindow Man, a preserved body found on Lindow Moss. 2024 marks the 40th anniversary of this extraordinary archaeological find (1st August 1984), and we’re using it as a starting point for creative exploration.

The students are producing artwork that responds to the history, mystery and story of Lindow Man — and we’re hoping to exhibit their work publicly as part of the anniversary. It’s an exciting opportunity to connect art, history and imagination in a really meaningful way.

Beanies

I’ve become a little obsessed with making beanie hats! What started as a way to use up some of my wool has quickly turned into a full-on passion — I just can’t stop. I’ve been sending them out as gifts, but they’ve proved so popular that I’m now thinking about selling them too. Who knew a simple hat could be so addictive?

Maybe an Etsy shop?

Beauty and the Beast

High School Musical - February 2024

I’ve been busy making a Beast headdress and five wolf puppets with my students — hard work, but such a treat, especially with such amazing young makers by my side. It seems I can’t quite escape my puppet-making days (and honestly, I’m very glad about that!). I can’t wait to see everything come to life on stage in the show.

Chester Contemporary

2023

This has been such an amazing project to be part of! I had the chance to work with two wonderful primary schools in Chester — JH Godwin Primary School and Belgrave Primary School — on creative projects inspired by the city’s history.

One project explored the history of the Rows, and the other looked at Chester Port — and I was delighted to weave in some felting with both groups. It was a fantastic way to bring the past to life through making, while giving the children a hands-on experience of creativity and storytelling.

Community Craft

with Caergwrle Hwb 2023 -2024

Lately, I’ve been busy felt making in the community, working on all sorts of projects — from colourful landscapes and mini vessels to baubles and even mushrooms! We’ve explored both wet and needle felting together, and there have also been workshops in macramé, sculpting and creative writing.

All of this has been made possible thanks to a lottery-funded initiative designed to bring people together — and it really has. The space is alive with creativity every week, and the tea and cake only add to the magical, welcoming atmosphere.

Toto Puppet

Bishops' Blue Coat High School - 2023

By far one of my favourite makes in recent years was returning to my old workplace to create a Toto puppet for the school’s production of The Wizard of Oz. It was such a joy to combine my love of puppet-making with the magic of theatre — and to see Toto come to life on stage!

Clwydian Creatives
Art Trail

September 2023

In 2023, I took part in Open Studios, joining the wonderful North Wales Feltmakers in Rhuddlan, North Wales. It was a great opportunity to share my love of felt alongside other makers. Earlier that spring, I also exhibited with a group of artists at Gallery 22 in Chester, during their March–April exhibition.
