About Lulu

Lucy Dentith

I am an artist and art teacher based in Shropshire, with roots in North Wales and Chester. I have a love for hand-made objects that carry stories and personality. My work is always shifting in material, style and scale — from painting and sculpture to textiles, and often a playful mix of all three. Everything I create tends to be a little unusual or unique, so stepping into the studio feels a bit like opening a cabinet of curiosities.

My creative journey began with a degree in Technical Effects for the Performing Arts at the London College of Fashion, which led me into the world of puppet making. Inspired since childhood by Jim Henson’s Labyrinth, I carried that fascination with monsters and characters into professional work for film and theatre — including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Alongside this, I completed a master’s in Design Practice and have spent over a decade teaching art and leading workshops in schools.

After a short period of illness, I came to value even more the importance of creating for wellbeing — taking time out to make, reflect and reconnect. Out of that realisation, I founded Lulu’s Cabinet: a positive, welcoming space where I can explore my own art while also inviting others to share in the joy of making.

My hope is that when people come into the studio, they feel safe, inspired and happy — and when they leave, they carry a little part of me with them, while leaving a little part of themselves behind.

Gallery

I create puppets, sculptures, paintings, embroideries, drawings and mixed-media pieces — each one unique in its own way. The name Lulu’s Cabinet was born from my love of unusual treasures, much like those found in a cabinet of curiosities. Over time, my gallery has grown into its own cabinet of creations.
